The cool water has moved in and just about shut down the finger. The fish are still thick, just not very hungry. The bulk have moved south and are taking up residence from golden gate to the lighthouse. The difference between catching fish and getting skunked has been the satellite reports on surface temps and chlorophyll levels. Proper planning before you leave the dock is essential in times like this, pick up and run to the right spot and keep your eyes peeled for birds. The surface feeding time is about half of what it is when conditions are prime. As we move into the moon phase it will be a bit of a chore getting the Striped Marlin to eat, however by the 20th it looks like the weather will give us a break and the water temps will rise. This will leave an ocean full of hungry billfish!! The best part is they will be right out our front door here at Land's end. We will keep you posted as the bite turns on. The key to having fun right now is to spend some time inshore on light action rods seeing who can land the biggest sierra on the lightest line. Don't forget about the Dorado and Yellowfin either it is a great time to fill the cooler. Have a fish fry and tell stories about the one that got away!!
